What is it like for a boy who is taught he needs to be tough to act like a man, but also feels fear?

What is it like for a young man who isn’t supposed to show “weakness” and the only emotion that he can express is anger?

This is the reality for many boys and young men growing up in the United States with a specific version of “masculinity” training. They aren’t supposed to feel or show a full range of human emotions. But what happens to them, their relationships, and society?

These are the themes explored in the fantastic documentary called The Mask You Live In.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness month, join You Belong Here (co-working space), The Roc Shop, and Stacey Edelstein of Raygun Creative Studio for the the film screening of “The Mask You Live In” directed and produced by The Representation Project, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 6:30pm in San Diego.

There will be a post-film discussion facilitated by myself, Sara Schairer of Compassion It, and Francis Donald of BroActive.
